Cowichan District Hospital

INTERIOR & EXTERIOR WAYFINDING SIGN PROGRAM

Project: Pursuit

Location: Cowichan, BC

Client: Cowichan District Hospital

Completion Date: N/A

Project done in collaboration with EDG Experience Design Group Inc.

As part of a design pursuit for the Cowichan District Hospital Replacement Project, we were engaged by Alliance Care Partners to develop a comprehensive wayfinding and signage strategy. Although the project was ultimately not awarded to our team, we delivered a robust proposal that addressed both interior and exterior signage requirements in accordance with the ADP-RFP technical guidelines, Island Health’s Interior Signage Guide, and CSA Z317.14 standards.

Our scope included conceptual drawings for illuminated exterior signage, interior signage, and interpretive elements, all designed to integrate seamlessly with the architecture and public art. Interior signage concepts focused on accessibility, durability, and clarity, including department identifiers, elevator directories, and Braille-compatible solutions. The proposal included typical sign types, material specifications, electrical requirements, and preliminary sign location plans.
